In April of 2009 a team of eight medical and non-medical personnel traveled to Shanghai to provide emergency medical training.

The team consisted of three emergency trained physicians, two firefighters/EMT personnel, one of which also who is a chaplain, two registered nurses, and an IT/photography support person.

Over the course of two weeks the team spent time at two community hospitals providing lectures and hands on training to doctors and nurses. The training included topics in CPR, respiratory emergencies and difficult airways, EKG interpretation, lifting techniques, C-Spine immobilization, basic triage, mock code situations, stroke assessment and disaster preparedness plans.

At the end of each training a hospital fire drill or mass casualty drill was performed with 5-10 live moulaged patients. There was news coverage of the events and our hosts found it very beneficial.
